Stock price alerts: set levels that make sense
ATLAS price alerts tell you when something changes in your stocks, and the probability of touching a price level helps you choose levels that will actually fire.
What it does
There are two kinds. Alerts ATLAS generates from data it already has: big moves in the last session, changes in a stock's probability, volatility regime, value-at-risk, upcoming events and concentration, plus a rule for when your portfolio drifts away from your target weights. And your own rules, which you can edit, pause or delete, with a 30-day history of what fired.
The practical problem with alerts is picking the level. Set it too close and your phone buzzes daily; set it too far and it never fires. A probability of touching the level over the next month turns a guess into a decision.
Worked example with live data
Real ATLAS numbers, prices as of Oct 26, 2026.
Live example for AAPL at $346.86: the chance of touching $312.17 (down 10%) in the next 21 sessions is 7%; for down 5% it is 36%. On the upside, up 5% is 43% and $381.55 (up 10%) is 12%. A level you want to hear about in a typical month should have a probability well above these small values.
| Move | Price level | Chance of reaching your buy price at some point |
|---|---|---|
| -10% | $312.17 | 7% |
| -5% | $329.52 | 36% |
| +5% | $364.20 | 43% |
| +10% | $381.55 | 12% |
How ATLAS calculates it
The chance of reaching a level at any point comes from the first-passage formula for a random walk with the stock's calibrated volatility and the long-run drift. It is higher than the chance of finishing at that level, because it counts any moment in the period.
Rules are checked against stored data when you open the page (at most once a minute), and no email is sent from that check.
Limits you should know
Alerts run on stored daily data, not on a live tick feed, so they do not replace a stop order at a broker. Fast moves and gaps can pass a level between checks.
Where it sits in the plans
The number of alerts depends on the plan: 3 on Free, 10 on Starter, 25 on Plus and 200 on ATLAS PRO.

Frequently asked questions
How do I set a stock price alert?
Choose a stock, the direction and the price level, and ATLAS checks it against the latest stored data. Use the probability of reaching the level to decide whether it is worth setting.
How many price alerts can I set?
3 on the Free plan, 10 on Starter, 25 on Plus and 200 on ATLAS PRO.
Do alerts work in real time?
No. They use stored daily data, so they flag changes in your stocks but are not a substitute for a broker's stop order.
What kinds of alerts does ATLAS send on its own?
Large moves, changes in the model's probability, volatility changes, upcoming events, concentration in one position and drift from your target weights.
