Investing lessons: two minutes, one idea, real numbers

ATLAS lessons are short on purpose: around two minutes each, one idea, one question, and numbers taken from real stocks and, once you sign in, from your own portfolio.

What it does

Lessons are arranged in three paths and finish with a question, so you can check you understood before moving on. Topics include reading a probability, what a range of outcomes means, how diversification works and what a bad month costs.

The aim is behavior, not trivia. People rarely lose money because they do not know a definition; they lose it by selling after a drop they never pictured in dollars. Several lessons put your own numbers in front of you for exactly this reason.

Worked example with live data

Real ATLAS numbers, prices as of Oct 26, 2026.

Lesson excerpt, "A bad month in dollars": put $10,000 in AAPL at $346.86. In 1 month out of 20 the position should be worth $9,102 or less, a loss of $898 (9%). In 1 month out of 20 it should be worth $11,076 or more.

MeasureValue
Total put in$10,000
A bad month (1 in 20)$9,102
Middle outcome after 21 sessions$10,041
A good month (1 in 20)$11,076

How ATLAS calculates it

Examples use the same calibrated model as the rest of ATLAS. A lesson on risk does not use a made-up example; it computes the 5th-percentile month for a stock or for your portfolio and states it in dollars.

Progress is saved in your browser, and each lesson links to the tool that applies it so you can try the idea straight away.

Limits you should know

Lessons teach concepts and are not a substitute for professional advice or a full financial education. Examples use one stock or portfolio and one moment in time.

Frequently asked questions

How can I learn to invest if I am a beginner?

Start with short lessons on risk and diversification, practice with virtual money, and only then move to real money in small amounts. ATLAS combines the three.

What is a 90% range?

A 90% range is the span in which a model expects the price to end nine times out of ten. One time in ten it lands outside, either above or below.

How long does a lesson take?

About two minutes. Each lesson has one idea and one question.

Are the lessons based on real data?

Yes. Examples use live ATLAS numbers for real stocks, and some lessons use your own portfolio once you sign in.
